At the close of nominations (2 p.m. on October 16th), there are scenarios that may occur for each candidate and mayor positions: no nominations, not enough nominations, just enough nominations, or more than enough nominations. If there are not enough candidates to fill positions, the nomination period is extended another seven days. If there are more candidates than positions, the municipality is heading to an election.
